I want to know how I can boot up my computer, it has a virus.?

My laptop has a virus. I want to be able to log in and delete or disinfect the files. Everytime I try to boot it up I get an internal error message. I don't have the operating installation disk, it has Windows 2000 professional. Any suggestions?
