Restraining order trial.... how do they work....?

I recently filed a restraining order in my county against an ex girlfriend who broke into my house and stole my dog. She has also filed one against me simultaneously stating that I went to hear house and got the dog back. I have police reports showing her at my residence and I was never at hers. How do these proceedings work when you show up. I need to know since I'll be going to two of them next week. Also, they are asking for court fees to be paid and return of the property that they are missing......which the property they are missing is a dog that we both have rights to. Can they make these requests in a Protective Order hearing??? I do not see how. Finally, can I subpoena the officer that filed the crime at my house to appear at my hearing along with the report to be available???
